Named after Leaellyn Rich who was the daughter of the paleontologists Tom Rich and Patricia Vickers who found the first skull. It is suggested that it's large eyes may have assisted the dinosaur's sight during the dark winter months that occurred when parts of Australia were close to the South Pole. Herbivorous.

Known from a partial skeleton found in Muttaburra, Queensland.
In some ways similar to the Iguanodon, with a claw-like thumb and three fingers that were joined together to form a hoof-like pad. Powerful jaws adapted to eating tough vegetation.
