A workshop where students experience electricity and magnetism first-hand in a captivating science show!

See 100,000 volts discharged in a flash! Conduct electricity through the palm of your hand, a ‘hair-raising experience’.
How is electricity generated anyway?
What does electrical resistance look like?
What does the Earth's magnetic field look like?
How do plasma globes work?
What technologies are being developed for the future?

The show covers static and current electricity, magnetic repulsion and attraction, electromagnetism, simple circuits and renewable energies.

Specific Outcomes

Physical Phenomena:

PP S2.4: - identifies various forms and sources of energy and devises systems that use energy.
- devises fair tests with assistance to determine which materials are/are not attracted by magnets...

PP S3.4 - determines, records and reports on the conditions necessary for an electrical circuit
- devises a fair test to find out which materials conduct electricity most effectively

Learning processes: INV ES2.7, INV S3.7

Fits within COGS Unit 'Machines'.
