Generally uncommon.
Coastal regions of North Queensland

Habitat

Rainforests and closed wet sclerophyll eucalypt forests near streams.
Description

Large bird 1.5 to 1.8 metres in height. Bony helmet can reach 17cm in height.
Can be aggressive if provoked.

Nests

Nest is collection of leaves at a base of a tree. Lays a clutch of 3 to 5 pale green granulated eggs.
Breeds August to February.
