More common in south-eastern Australia.

Habitat

Cool Australian environments from open woodlands to closed forests.
Description

A generally solitary marsupial up to one metre in length. Creates extensive burrows.
Diet consists of grasses, sedges, herbs bark and roots.
The common wombat rears is young in a backwards-facing pouch.
