Description
Nomadic bat that can be found in numbers ranging from hundreds to thousands of individuals.
Diet consists of nectar and pollen from Eucalyptus spp., Angophora spp., Melaleuca spp. and Banksia spp. blossoms, helping to pollinate these trees in the process. They also consume some fruit and can be a pest in commercial orchards. Breeds in March and April.
Populations have declined since the early 1990's. Status may change without effective recovery plans.
