Make your own compost

Instructions

1. Dig a pit in the corner of your garden

2. Line it with the dry grass or straw

3. Place in biodegradeable waste such as foodstuff and garden clippings

4. Cover with a thin layer of soil

5. Water once/twice a week to keep it moist to help the soil bacteria break the compost down

6. Every 2 weeks turn over the contents of the pit. This adds oxygen to help decomposition

7. Add more biodegradeable waste and soil as needed

8. After 3 - 4 months the compost manure will be ready to use on your garden

You will need:

- A spade or shovel

- Dry grass or straw

- Leftover food waste and garden clippings

A lot of biodegradeable household waste goes to landfill.

Composting reduces the rubbish thrown away and can be used in the garden, a great organic fertiliser
