Erigeron karvinskianus

Flowers

White flowers with a yellow centre. Rays starting as purplish-pink and becoming white. Flowers from October to February.

Habitat

Introduced from Central America, this scrambling herb is common in moist gullies and has the capacity to form dense mats in the right conditions. Common in many garden plantings around Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Being part of the Asteraceae family the seeds are wind and water dispersed.

Eradication

Control can include registered herbicides such as Roundup used as a diluted foliar spray.
Follow all directions on the label.

Mechanical removal works however the fragile stems often break off, leaving the roots to re-shoot. Follow-up weeding or spraying is recommended.
