The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) replaced the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES) on 1 January 2017. NESA. The following courses have been endorsed by NESA as addressing specific Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (you can download the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers pdf file here).

Simple Science in the Classroom

Discover how to run simple science experiments in the primary classroom using easy to get materials. During this session your teachers will learn about the materials local supermarket and turning them into engaging and worthwhile classroom experiments. This is not a PowerPoint presentation; your staff will actively participate in hands-on experiments that have been  classroom tested and have shown to be highly effective in increasing student understanding. All materials presented have direct syllabus links to both the ACARA and NSW K to 10 Science Syllabus.
 

FOR PROFICIENT TEACHERS NSW Education Standards Authority logo Simple Science in the Classroom will contribute 1 hour of QTC Registered PD addressing 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
 
  • For up to 30 teachers per workshop
  • 2 tables arranged at the front of the room plus desks for each teacher to run experiments.
  • We will provide all necessary materials.
  • Access to running water, a whiteboard and electrical power.
  • Duration 60 minutes, depending on your time frame.
  • Set up time 30 minutes and pack up time 30 minutes.
  • Cost $550 for an onsite visit within the Sydney Metropolitan area. We can travel throughout regional NSW however travel fees do apply. 
  • Optional; To support your school each attending teacher can receive a copy of the new primary STEM teaching book 'Be Amazing' at a discounted cost of $25 per copy.

Online PD for Science in the Classroom

Using web conferencing technology, your teachers will discover how to run simple science experiments in the primary classroom using easy to get materials. This is not a PowerPoint presentation or a series of videos; your staff will actively participate in hands-on experiments in real time with us.

During this session your teachers will learn about the materials local supermarket and turning them into engaging and worthwhile classroom experiments.. These experiments have been classroom tested and have shown to be highly effective in increasing student understanding. All materials presented have direct syllabus links to both the ACARA and NSW K to 10 Science Syllabus.

FOR PROFICIENT TEACHERS NSW Education Standards Authority logo Online PD for Science in the Classroom will contribute 1 hours and 30 minutes of QTC Registered PD addressing 2.1.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW
 
  • For up to 30 teachers per workshop
  • A video conference system or a computer setup for web conferencing (camera, speakers & microphone). A test of your conferencing system will be arranged if necessary.
  • You will need to provide a small list of ingredients accessible from the local shops 
  • Access to running water
  • Duration 90 minutes, depending on your time frame.
  • Set up time 30 minutes and pack up time 30 minutes.
  • Cost $150 inc. GST per site involved (to keep your costs low this session may have another school involved). If you want this as an exclusive session with just your teachers and us the cost will be $300 inc. GST.
  • Optional; To support your school each attending teacher can receive a copy of the new primary STEM teaching book 'Be Amazing' at a discounted cost of $25 per copy plus postage.
