A practical STEM workshop where students get to design and build their own bridges using hot glue guns and ice cream sticks. Specific content covers the differences between truss arrangements and how they influence bridge strength.

Australian ACARA Content Outcomes:

  • With guidance, plan appropriate investigation methods to answer questions or solve problems (ACSIS086)

NSW Science Syllabus Content

A student:
bridge building using hot glue guns and paddle pop stickls


  • Appropriate for Years 5 to 6 with a maximum of 30 students per class.
  • 16 Tables arranged in groups of 4 near a power point.
  • Chairs are required.
  • Access to at least 2 electrical power sockets (preference for 3 or 4).
  • Duration 90 minutes, set up time 45 minutes and pack up time 45 minutes
On booking please be advised that hot glue guns are used throughout this workshop. 
Appropriate safety precautions and instructions are provided. All care is taken however we do not take responsibility for injuries caused by misuse of our equipment.


  • $390 inc. GST per 90 minute workshop
