In the July 2017 school holidays the Australian Museum in Sydney welcomes Fizzics Education to provide a range of exciting, engaging and hands-on school holiday programs!

  • Half day holiday program workshops and activities appropriate for all Sydney school aged children!
  • Please bring food, a drink, a hat and appropriate clothing for science activities.
  • No peanuts allowed on site

Getting to the Australian Museum

The Australian Museum is located on the corner of College Street and William Street in central Sydney, just across the road from Hyde Park and opposite St Mary's Cathedral.


The nearest train stations are St James, Museum and Town Hall. Each are of equal distance and are an easy seven-minute walk.

Please note that Museum Station does not offer lift access at this stage.

If you have a stroller or wheelchair, please note that your journey through Hyde Park will end in stairs at each of the museum corners on College and Park Streets. Level exit is available at the St Mary's Cathedral pedestrian crossing if coming from St James Station, and at the corner of College and Liverpool Streets if coming from Museum Station.


For bus services arriving in the city center, alight near Hyde Park or Town Hall and simply walk east along Park Street towards Kings Cross - a 7 to 10 minute walk.


What to bring for our holiday programs

  • lunch and morning tea 
  • hat
  • water bottle
  • any medications

    If children want to stay for the full day simply book your child into 2 x half day workshops and we'll supervise them during the break! 

NB: No peanuts allowed on-site. 

A Parent or Guardian is required to sign the child in upon arrival and then sign them out when picking them up after the workshop. Refunds available if the event is cancelled or rescheduled.

Light up Your Life!

A world of colour! In this science workshop the room will be filled with colour as children learn about properties of light in this fun interactive science workshop. The world of Digital Microscopy will be illuminated as they learn to why scientists use microscopes, the biology of microbes and how to create biological drawings. So much fun!

Meeting Point: Museum Entrance. Parents are required to sign children in and out before departure. Parents will need to pay General Admission if they wish to stay and explore museum.

  • Age: 5 – 8 years
  • Cost  $39 per child (Australian Museum member) or $45 inc. GST (non-member)
  • Education Room (Science Studio), Level 2

Time: 9:30am to 12:00pm
