In the July 2018 school holidays, Centennial Parklands again welcomes Fizzics Education to the Centennial Parklands education center to provide a range of exciting, engaging and hands-on school holiday programs for the summer!

  • Half and full day holiday program workshops and activities appropriate for all Sydney school aged children.
  • Please bring food, a drink, a hat and appropriate clothing for science activities.

What to bring to our holiday programs
  If children stay for the full day simply book your child into 2 x half day workshops and we'll take care of them during the break! These holiday program workshop sold out quickly - get in early to ensure that you don't miss out!  Refunds available if the event is cancelled or rescheduled.

NB: No peanuts allowed on-site.

The WILD PLAY Discovery Center is in Centennial Parklands is towards the end of Dickens Drive.

Centennial Park is based on one-way streets and you are best approaching Dickens Drive from the Lang Road entrance of the park on the northwestern side. Continue along Dickens drive past Loch Avenue and the center will be on your left just before the bridge. Park your car on the street and walk 150m from the road and you'll find us there in the WILD PLAY discovery center!

Lego Robotics 1

Learn how to program our Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots to do your bidding! In this exciting program learn how to teach a robot to do what you wish using motors, sensors and more. This workshop is ideal for those children interested in computing and want to learn more about what Lego can do.

Lego Robotics 2

Extend your knowledge of programming with more challenges using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots. This course is presented as a series of challenges to encourage children to develop more advanced programming skills and be creative in their pursuits.

If your child does own a EV3 robot and is familiar with the programming platform they are most welcome to join if they haven't been in Lego Robotics 1.

Ewwww, gross!

Explore all things creepy and gooey in the name of studying the human body. Make fake snot, vile vomit bombs, exploding pimples, fake wounds and more. Not for the faint-hearted...but so much fun! Wear old clothes in this one!

CSI Forensics Fun

This forensic science workshop will intrigue budding super sleuths who enjoy their science mixed with a bit of drama. Get dressed in your forensic suit and follow the clues using real science:

  • Fingerprinting and blood typing
  • Facial reconstruction via computer and real models.
  • Hair and fibre analysis.
  • Fluorescence of oils, plant identification and DNA comparisons
  • Latent image detection and shoe impression casting!

Use the Forces

Learn how objects really move!
In this fun holiday science workshop we'll use rockets, bike wheels, science toys and weird contraptions as we look in depth at how push and pull forces act to move objects. You'll discover how friction works as well as explore rotational forces and find out what inertia is all about. Plus, you'll make your own rubber band racer to keep...Newton would be happy here!

Please bring a snack, a drink and a hat with you on the day and also please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty!

Maker Mayhem

Get creative!
In this holiday science workshop you'll use motors, wires, batteries and craft materials to make all sorts of contraptions. Learn how gear ratio's work, complete circuits, apply leverage and apply design thinking in a series of fun activities to get the brain going during the holidays. You'll even create a Scribble Bot drawing robot to take home too... lots to do here for the child who wants to build stuff!

Please bring a snack, a drink and a hat with you on the day.

This program can be paired with our other holiday program to make a full day of workshops! Lunch break will be from 12pm-1pm and fully supervised by Fizzics Education.

Chemical concoctions

Learn how to make elephant's toothpaste, milk rainbows, gooey slime, fizzy potions, giant bubbles and more and more! Participate in a professional chemical science show and make slime to take home. Don't forget to wear old clothes as you will be getting dirty!

Extreme Engineering

Get your build on! The kids will have a blast in this school holiday workshop where they put their imagination to the test constructing all sorts of contraptions. We’ll investigate the design and structures of towers and bridges to understand what gives them the strength to hold up, we’ll create complex machines using common materials and undertake a challenge in making a spacecraft survive a landing!
