Any school, library, museum or even private home can join with us for after-school science fun. 
Each week your students can interact with our presenters and other clubs sharing experiences plus running science experiments in real time virtual classrooms.

With a simple internet connection and a webcam your students can interact live with our educators regardless of where you are! No need to download software and no fancy systems required, just a group of kids ready to have fun learning science all guided safely by a science educator in real time.

Your school, library, scout hall or even your home can have our highly experienced educators organised for regular teaching sessions, even if you're not in Australia! Home-schooling groups have found this as a great complement to their regular weekly teaching schedule plus opportunity classes also benefit greatly too!

Your students will benefit greatly from a course that has been robustly designed around hands-on science experiments each week that the kids run themselves. We spend the time to ensure that the children engage with each concept presented... and have a blast doing so!

We have been using video conferencing technologies for hundreds of schools since 2010. Demonstrated experience

We run science workshops, shows and events every day of the week; in 2014 we saw over 300,000 students face to face at hundreds of settings across Australia in front of qualified teachers... it really isn't our first day! Our staff have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and have strong experience in leading after school clubs. Full working with children checks, full public liability, full risk assessment, full evaluative process and administrative support makes this science club stand out from the rest.

In 2014 our Director completed a Churchill Fellowship on this type of education and is now on the leadership team for International Society for Technology in Education Interactive Video Conferencing PLN plus co-founded Virtual Excursions Australia ; we know how it's done!

Adapted from our original sessions run for the Powerhouse Discovery Center, this after-school club has exploded on the back of engaging science lessons developed by qualified science teachers. Designed to target a broad range of interests and abilities, the science club is arranged in 10 week blocks where we explore chemistry, biology, physics, earth science and much more!

What do I need?

  • An internet connection, a computer or tablet with a webcam plus speakers
  • A connection to a TV, data projector or interactive whiteboard is nice but not necessary
  • Kids ages 7 to 12 years. Older students are suggested to be run in a separate session.
  • Electrical power required. Access to 4 trestle tables is highly recommended. 
  • Duration 60 minutes.
  • Minimum student numbers are required to commence. 

What's involved?

  • All workshops materials & consumables are low cost, safe and easy to access!
  • Desktop solution available for sites without video conferencing hardware (if you have it, great!). 
  • Our presenter acts as a leader for the club throughout the session.
  • Full training and support for you as an on-site science club programme leader.
  • ACARA and NSW syllabus linked workshops. 
  • For NSW new scheme teachers maintaining accreditation at the level of professional competence, this activity could be used as part of your TIPD (Teacher Identified Professional Development). TIPD can identify video conferencing and science experiments as part of your ongoing professional development as a classroom teacher. 
Any Australian school or individual with the appropriate background can work with us to provide after-school enrichment for students.

What are the costs?

  • $110 inc. GST per site per week.
  • Recommended for groups of 30 children or less. Have a local teacher and some parents help you!
  • All student sheets, teacher notes and materials lists emailed prior each week.
  • The consumables used are covered by your group and usually average $5 per child per week.

Even after adding a nominal cost for materials this is cheaper than most sports clubs and after school care. The course is designed to truly engage children with the scientific method whereby they learn to hypothesize, fairly test experiments, understand and change variables plus explore and communicate results just like in the real world.
