Commencement date

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of science education outreach workshops & shows to schools, preschools, libraries, vacation care centres, museums, shopping centres and other public spaces.
  • Delivery of science parties at private events.
  • Delivery of science club workshop activities for children.
  • Development of education workshops, shows and science club materials as required.
  • Work with the education team to plan and design science outreach & science club programs as needed.
  • Use of our software and cloud-based apps for communication, training and planning.

Other Responsibilities

  • Occasional travel outside of metropolitan areas for science outreach activities.
  • Maintenance of science outreach kits, equipment and consumables as needed.
  • Maintenance of vehicles and facilities in terms of cleanliness and keeping up a state of good repair. Management should be informed if mechanical repair or replacement be needed.
  • Some record-keeping in relation to the delivery of science outreach activities.
  • Some show and workshop presentations may attract media attention.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to relate to children of ages 4 to 18 in both classroom & non-classroom settings.
  • High level of professionalism, deportment & presentation.
  • Broad knowledge of scientific theories and laws, with a strong ability to communicate this knowledge with a wide range of age groups and backgrounds.
  • Ability to perform in varied public spaces.
  • Your English communication skills will need to be of the highest standard.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to stated availabilities.
  • Ability to work weekends and school holiday periods if needed.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the metropolitan & surrounding areas as well as occasional regional State tours.
  • Commitment to WHS and EEO principles within the workplace.
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness is required.
  • Class C Drivers Licence.
  • A NSW Working with Children Check (apply through Services NSW)
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children.
  • An understanding of contemporary child-safe practices.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • A strong background in Primary and/or Secondary Education.
  • A minimum of 2 years completed of a B.Sc or B.App.Sc, with the commencement of a Dip. Ed. or similar would be advantageous.
