Make plants go 'Round the Twist'
Instructions

1. Place your new seedlings next to a sunny window

2. Once they are leaning in one direction, try giving the plant pots a quarter turn.

3. Repeat this step every time the plant begins to grow in a new direction.

4. You may be able to get some seedlings to begin to 'spiral' as they try to find the light!
You will need:

- A sunny window

- Seedlings, such as tomatoes or even bean sprouts
The movement of plants towards light is called 'phototropism'.

'Photo' means light, where as tropism means 'to move'

Plants grow by plant cells getting longer, or splitting into new cells.
The cells on the side away from the light grow much faster than those on the sunlight side. This causes the plant stems to bend towards the light.

Phototropism allows the plant leaves to get the full benefit of the sunlight energy.
