Also known as thermochromism, find out about how the chameleon grasshopper changes colour due to heat
Discuss the difference between opaque, translucent and transparent materials.
Run an experiment which determines which colour absorbs more heat. Place a thermometer on different coloured tiles or pieces of paper or alternatively add ice to different coloured materials and see which melt first in the sun.
Does the mug need hot water or is it just heat that affects it? Try putting a hair dryer on the mug!
