Healthy Choices

Healthy Choices

So much science in this health-based school visit!

  • Explore the importance of diet and exercise as pillars of a healthy body.
  • Find out why sugar tastes so good (but is not great for your health!).
  • Understand heart health and the relationship between the heart and lungs.
  • Learn about protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and fibre.
  • Make a healthy meal with the right amount of protein and carbs.
  • Learn about hand-eye coordination and test your abilities.
  • Try a hand dynamometer and see who is strongest!
  • Learn about portion sizes, food content, and nutrition.
  • Practice flexibility using resistance bands and measure it using the Sit & Reach box
  • Find out how balance works and practice with our balance boards.

Extend the program to 90 minutes to include:

  • Sprint tests over a standard 20-metre distance (and understand the muscle components that make some people better at sprinting or endurance than others).
  • Agility testing (like the pros do).
  • Fancy footwork – test your body’s ability to react to external stimuli quickly and appropriately.

Available as a primary school science incursion within Australia or as a video conference to any school around the globe!
